We're always getting teased through the press releases we see of Volkswagen vehicles being rolled out for various international markets and this is another
Whilst we have the Golf Cabriolet here in Australia, we're yet to see the GTI version. The jury is certainly out on whether we'll get it a Northstar - sales have been ok but not as consistent as they should be.
And there's no reason really. A great car to drive, rag roof works really well and there's no better feeling than going topless. We have perfect weather for it, yet our southern cousins in Victoria keep selling more. Go figure!

The Volkswagen Golf GTI is making a return in topless form for the first time since the first generation, a fact that is sure to create quite a buzz for enthusiasts. To feed that lust a little further, Volkswagen has presented the first videos as well as a bunch of new photos for you to feast your eyes upon.
The GTI Cabriolet will be the final variant of the sixth generation Golf before the new model arrives next year. It boasts a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine that generates 210 PS (155 kW / 208 hp) and 206 lbs ft (280 Nm) of torque that is mated to a six-speed manual or optional six-speed dual-clutch DSG gearbox.
It accelerates slightly slower than its hot hatch sibling with a 0-100kph(0-62mph) time of 7.3 seconds and is capable of reaching a speed of 237kph (147mph) if equipped with the manual transmission (2kph slower with DSG). Fuel consumption is rated at 7.6L/km (31 mpg US / 37 mpg UK) while CO2 emissions are 180g/km.
The GTI Cabriolet features an electricaly powered fabric roof that can be open or closed in 9.5 seconds at speeds of up to 30kph (18mph).
The first available models will arrive in dealerships on June 22nd, pricing is yet to be announced.
